One of our home-expansion managers will begin a new project by collecting the necessary measurements from inside and outside the home and by studying the current placement of load-bearing walls and other aspects that might affect the viability of the project. In addition to being aware of state laws and local ordinances that might alter the planning process for new or expanded construction, the manager will check for restrictive homeowner-association rules or potential issues with immediate neighbors for possible threats to the success of a room-addition proposal. The manager will also double-check with the local zoning board or property inspector’s office for accurately recorded property lines and setbacks for the affected land that might limit the scope of an expansion project.

After an initial investigation reveals no serious problems that would preclude successful completion of the project, the project manager will sit down in person with the homeowner to discuss in depth the aesthetic and practical issues surrounding the proposed room addition, such as integrating the existing roof with new roofing material, choosing energy-efficient windows that match the existing motif of the home, adding air-conditioning or heating options, selecting flooring materials and other concerns.

CONSULTATION

Our room additions coordinator asks questions about budgetary and design considerations and intensively investigates potential legal and practical problems that might derail the success of an expansion proposal.

JOB ESTIMATE

After the customer has decided on the essential details of the proposed expansion, the project coordinator works with other company employees to closely estimate the likely cost for the project.

PLANNING & DESIGN

Upon customer approval of the job estimate, the project coordinator finishes detailed planning and handling of legal requirements before establishing a completion timeline and placing orders to suppliers.

CONSTRUCTION

Following detailed planning guidelines, construction workers carry through demolition activities and subsequent cleanup before completing new structural elements such as walls and and installing windows, rain gutters and other features.
